DiskInternals Linux Reader – Freeware Application for Windows
Review by on
DiskInternals has two applications meant to be used by Windows users who interact with Linux. We’ve covered one of the two applications a short while ago – DiskInternals Linux Recovery. By using this application Windows users can recover information contained on Linux Ext2/Ext3 partitions. By using this application the Windows user can restore deleted and damaged data, repair a partition table, recover files if the drive is inaccessible and restore a disk after a crash. The Windows user can also create a partition image that can be processed as a regular disk.

The second application DiskInternals has to offer is called DiskInternals Linux Reader. This application allows Windows users to access information stored on Ext2/Ext3 partitions. In a familiar, Windows Explorer-like interface, the DiskInternals Linux Reader user can browse Ext2/Ext3 Linux file systems and extract files from there.

DiskInternals Linux Recovery and DiskInternals Linux Reader are offered free of charge. To my mind, freeware applications are the best for the simple reason that they do not cost a thing. You can get them, put them to the test, and use them for as long as you want without parting with your hard earned money.

Before you go get DiskInternals Linux Reader and put it to the test, take a look at the technical details presented below:
Download – the download weighs in at 4.0MB.
Supported OS – at the time of writing this and according to the developer, X is compatible with Windows 2000, 2003 Server, 2008 R2, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7.
Limitations – there are none since DiskInternals Linux Reader is offered free of charge.

Pros
  • Easy to use
  • Familiar Explorer-like interface
  • Browse Ext2/Ext3 Linux file systems and extract files from there
  • Freeware

Cons
  • None that I could think of
